Cyber Security protects the bank and our customers from theft, loss and risk events, through effective and proactive management of cyber security, privacy and operational risk.

Your new team:

Cyber Defence Operations is part of the group’s Cyber Security business unit at Commonwealth Bank. You will be a part of the Detection and Response Engineering team within the wider Cyber Defence Operations. This role will afford you with the ability to see first-hand how Commonwealth Bank detects and reacts to cyber threats in real time.

This role is heavily focused on automation techniques , developing services and solutions across python while supporting the organisations Phantom / SOAR implementation project.

Your impact and contribution:

The Detection and Response Engineering team develops innovative automated techniques to identify and respond to real-world cyber-attacks targeting the group’s ecosystem. This is achieved by correlating the information produced by the Cyber Defence Operations in Intel and Response along with the data collected from our technology platforms.

This role will require someone with strong python software development experience working alongside with our detection and response teams while supporting key initiatives across the organisations Phantom platform. Due to continued successes, we are growing the Cyber Detection and Response Engineering team and we’re looking for a smart and creative problem solver who has a keen interest in automation and the necessary python development expertise.

You will also:

  • Develop and design automation services and solutions across Python.

  • Work alongside our SOAR platform engineering team to support in create standard automated workflows, custom workflow functions. Playbooks, 3rd party integrations and python logic.

  • Working on our key phantom integration project where you will develop and engineer services and or solutions in python working with SOAR.

  • Offering support and technical advice to key function and technical stakeholders across the cyber defence operations function.

We are interested in people who:

This role is for someone who has a background in python development and engineering and is looking to build a career across cyber security and or automaton. You will bring python development and or engineering experience, while supporting our SOAR engineering team on delivering automation services and solutions across the wider group.

You will bring:

  • Strong expertise in python software development is a must.

  • Experience creating tools to automate tasks and integrate systems in Python is essential.

  • Strong understanding in object oriented coding styling including modular/reusable code design.

  • Familiar with Git workflows.

  • Understanding with Pytest or other testing frameworks.

  • Knowledge using Python for API.

  • An understanding across cyber security is desirable but not essential.

  • Foundational experience working across SOAR and or Phantom is desirable but not essential .
